Captain Gee was a member of the Marine Composite Squadron 1, Marine Air Group 11, 1st Marine Air Wing. On January 16, 1968, he was a crew member of a Skyknight Electronic Surveillance Aircraft (EF10-B) near Danang, South Vietnam, when contact with the aircraft was lost. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
