Sergeant First Class Garbutt was a 59 year old American man from New London, Connecticut who had retired from Company E, 25th Signal Battalion, U.S. Army with service in Vietnam, and was living with his wife, Lorena Garbutt, in Pueblo Nuevo, Panama. He died on October 28, 1969 at home and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
