Flight Officer Franken was killed in an Aircraft accident on August 7, 1945. Initially listed as missing in action with an administrative date of death of August 8, 1946, his remains were recovered and he is buried with the rest of the crew in Arlington National Cemetery. His name is permanently engraved on the walls of the missing at Manila American Cemetery.
