Specialist, Sixth Class Fowler was a member of 240th Assault Helicopter Company, 214th Aviation Battalion, 12th Aviation Group. On August 1, 1968, he was the gunner in a Bell Huey Utility Helicopter (UH-1C) on a combat mission and ran into bad weather. The aircraft was diverted to Song Be, South Vietnam but never reached it. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
