Warrant Officer, First Class Fivelson was a member of the 158th Aviation Battalion, 160th Aviation Group, 101st Airborne Division. On February 15, 1971, he was a passenger in a Boeing Chinook Cargo Handling Helicopter (CH-47C) that was ferrying gasoline into Savannakhet Province, Laos when the aircraft was hit by ground fire exploded and crashed about 10 miles southeast of Sepone, Laos. His remains were recovered on February 11, 2000 and identified on October 18, 2001. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
