Captain Ferguson was a member of the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Udorn Airfield, Thailand. On December 30, 1969, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4D) on a mission over the Plain of Jars, Laos when it was hit by hostile fire and exploded. CAPT Ferguson's remains have been recovered and interred at a private cemetery in Washington state. His name is permanently inscribed on the Vietnam Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
