Paul Ely was born in the Philippines on September 25, 1905. He enlisted in the U.S.. Army and served as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. After the war he moved to Panama and worked as a civilian for the U.S. Army. Upon retirement he remained in Panama. He died on June 20, 1975 and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
