E. A. Elwell was born in Springfield, Illinois in 1858. He moved to Panama to find work. He was employed with the Panama Railroad, living at Cristobal for ten months. He died on November 16, 1906 at the Colon Hospital and was buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery then reinterred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979.
