Specialist, Fourth Class Dillon was a member of 68th Aviation Company, 52nd Aviation Battalion, 17th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade. On July 20, 1966, he was crew chief of a Bell Huey Utility Helicopter (UH-1B) landing at Long An Province, South Vietnam on an air mobile assault mission, when his aircraft was hit by enemy fire, exploded and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
