Russell W. Demers was born in Green Island, New York on July 9, 1896. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Private during World War I. He married Rosalie Demars. After the war, he worked as a civilian for a short period then in 1952 he worked as a Construction Inspector, Contracts and Inspection Division, Panama Canal Company. He died in Gorgas Hospital on August 10, 1958. He was cremated and his remains were held at the Gorgas Mortuary. He was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1981.
