Arthur Vaulkan Dayton was born in Manhattan, New York. In 1910 he worked for the government of New York City. He moved to Panama to work as a dredging foreman for the Panama Canal Company in 1912. In 1916, he married Adelina Arosemena Boyd in Panama. He died on June 27, 1936 at the Gorgas Hospital and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery next to his wife, Adelina Dayton.
