Shop Machinist Second Class Delmont Augustus Day was born in Franklin, Washington on July 21, 1915. When he was a young man, he was a truck driver living in Oregon. He married Ada H. Day. During World War II he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Fireman First Class on the troop transport "USS ANTAEUS" (AS-21). On February 21, 1943 he was transferred to the Naval Submarine Base at Coco Solo, Canal Zone and served as a Shop Machinist Second Class. He died while on active duty on February 25, 1945 at Coco Solo. He was buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery then re-interred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979.
