Captain Daffron was a member of the 557th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Cam Ranh Bay Airfield, South Vietnam. On February 18, 1970, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4C) on a mission over the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos. The aircraft crashed and burned. His remains were recovered on November 3, 1995 and identified on July 21, 1999. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
