Philip L. Dade was born in New Haven, Connecticut on June 28, 1908. He married Ellina Dade and they moved to the Canal Zone where Philip became Chief, Contraband Control Section, Civil Affairs Bureau, Panama Canal Company. After serving twenty years, he was made Chief, Civil Defense (Pacific Side). He was an amateur archaeologist who explored a rich archaeological site at Venado Beach, Ft. Kobbe and recovered pre-Colombian artifacts. He retired after 26 years with the Panama Canal Company. He died on December 8, 1976 and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
