Ivy May DaCosta was born in Panama in 1913. She worked as a sales checker with the Service Bureau of the Panama Canal Company. She retired after 20 years service and lived near Panama City. She died on October 28, 1973 at the Gorgas Army Hospital and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
