Jerome F. Da Costa was born in the United States in 1874. He moved to Panama to work as a miner with the Mining Division, Isthmus Canal Company. He was living at Empire with his wife. He died on July 24, 1906 at the Ancon Hospital and buried at the Ancon Cemetery. He was disinterred and cremated in 1914 and his ashes saved at the Panama Canal Mortuary. On a request from the Mortuary his ashes were buried at the Corozal American Cemetery in 2001.
