Notes
Mathew John Cryan was born in Ballymote, Ireland on January 1, 1889. He immigrated to the United States in 1910. He enlisted in the US Army on June 3, 1911 at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas and served as a Corporal with Troop C, 3rd Cavalry. He was Discharged on June 2, 1914 with a rating of excellent. and became a naturalized citizen on January 19, 1915. He married Anna Cryan and they moved to the Canal Zone where Mathew worked as a Constable for the Panama Canal Company. He died at the Gorgas Army Hospital on May 4, 1943 and was buried at Corozal American Cemetery near his wife, Anna Cryan.
