Lacy D. Crutchfield was born in Chatham, North Carolina on July 11, 1907. He worked for the Ashelearo Motor Company in Ashelearo, North Carolina. Later he moved to the Canal Zone where he worked as a U.S. Army Signal Corps civilian. He died on February 7, 1946 near Chorrera, Panama and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
