William Victor Cox was born in England in 1917. When he was 19, he was attending the Hertfordshire Training School, England. He ran away from the school and stowed away aboard the British ship SS Nurtureton. He used the alias "Jack Turner". He died on January 27, 1936, was cremated and buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
