Engineman Second Class Cota was a crew member of Landing Ship USS HARNETT COUNTY (LST-821). On May 14, 1968, he was returning from liberty at the Binh Thuy boat landing when he fell off the launch into the Bassac River. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
