Chief Warrant Officer, Second Class Comer was a member of 187th Aviation Company, 269th Aviation Battalion, 12th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade. On November 24, 1969, he was the pilot of a Bell Iroquois Utility Helicopter (UH-1H) on a general support mission when the aircraft crashed into the Van Co Dung River, South Vietnam. His remains were recovered on December 24, 1993 and identified on February 6, 2001. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
