Private Thomas Collins was an American born in 1834. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a Private aboard the Sloop of War USS St. Mary's. He died on March 11, 1863 from typhoid fever, while his ship was on patrol in the Pacific Squadron protecting American shipping from Confederate ships during the Civil War. He was buried at Flamenco Island, Panama. His remains were reinterred at the Ancon Cemetery in 1911, disinterred in 1913, cremated and buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
