Ricardo Colina was born in Panama on March 14, 1926. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on November 11, 1940 and served aboard the Kennebec-class oiler USS MONONGAHELA (AO-42) which earned 10 battle stars in World War II and 2 battle stars during the Korean War. He became a naturalized citizen on June 27, 1949. He was on active duty during the Vietnam War and retired as Yeoman First Class from the Navy on March 24, 1966. After retirement, he worked for the Trans-World Airlines Customer Service, New York City. He died on May 9, 1986 at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
