Marie Gertrude Coffey was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on October 7, 1887 and married Daniel A. Coffey. She accompanied him to the Canal Zone where he worked as a clerk in the Finance and Accounting Office of the Panama Canal Company. After his death she moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. She had been a Panama Canal Company employee. She died on June 12, 1967 at St. Petersburg Hospital. She was buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery then reinterred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979 next to her husband, Daniel A. Coffee.
