Daniel A. Coffey was born in Ireland on May 2, 1883. He immigrated to the United States and became a naturalized citizen. He moved to the Canal Zone and worked as a clerk in the Finance and Accounting Office of the Panama Canal Company. He died on February 18, 1930. He was buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery then reinterred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979 next to his wife, Marie Gertrude Coffey.
