Mattie R. Clarke was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on June 11, 1907. She married Jack Clarke and moved to the Canal Zone where she was employed by the U.S. Army. Jack was employed by the Grounds Maintenance Division, Panama Canal Company. She died on April 5, 1964 and was buried at Corozal American Cemetery.
