Captain Clark was a member of the Marine All Weather Fighter Squadron 235, Marine Attack Group 11, 1st Marine Air Wing. On May 3, 1968, he was the pilot of a Vought Crusader Fighter (F-8E) conducting a combat mission near the Demilitarized Zone over South Vietnam, when his aircraft was hit by ground fire and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
