Jose Claramonte was born in Spain on May 18, 1878. He immigrated to the United States and became a naturalized citizen. He attended college and became a professor. He moved to Panama to teach. He died on May 12, 1951. He was cremated and buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery then reinterred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979.
