Samuel Martin Christy was born in Panama on March 8, 1913. On November 11, 1947, he joined the crew of the ship "S.S. Marie M. Meloney" serving as Messman for two years. He immigrated to the United States, living in Brooklyn, New York and on May 21, 1957 he became a naturalized citizen. He moved to the Canal Zone and worked for the Panama Canal Commission. He died at his residence at Ciudad Radial, Panama on February 14, 1989 and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
