He enlisted in the Army and was promoted to Sergeant with the Battery E, 83rd Coast Artillery, Fort Amador, Canal Zone serving during World War II. On December 29, 1941, he died at the Corozal Hospital, Corozal, Canal Zone while on active duty and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
