Second Lieutenant Robert W. Childers was born in Red Cloud, Nebraska on July 29, 1922. He enlisted as a Private in the Army for the Duration of World War II. He was awarded a battlefield commission as Second Lieutenant and was released on October 22, 1945. He Moved to the Canal Zone where he worked for the Comptroller, Panama Canal Company. He died on August 31, 1983 at the San Fernando Hospital, Pueblo Nuevo and is buried at the Corozal American Cemetery with his wife, Noemi Caballero Childers.
