Charles Albert Chase was born in San Jose, Costa Rica on March 1, 1884. He was the son of Warren Chase, an American citizen. In 1910, he moved to the Canal Zone and married Rosa Ermalinda Sanabria Chase on May 10, 1915. He worked as a machinist for the Panama Canal Company. He died on September 8, 1940. He was buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery then reinterred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979 with his wife, Rosa, and near his son, Charles E. Chase.
