Private Alfred W. Chase was born in Ancon, Canal Zone on May 21, 1921. He was the son Carl F. and Beryl Chase. He enlisted as a Private in Company A, 3rd Pioneer Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. On May 29, 1945, he was killed in action fighting the Japanese on Saipan, Mariana Islands. He was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery near his parents.
