Joseph Cavanaugh was an American born in 1858 who moved to Panama and lived in Colon for 20 years. He was a non- Isthmus Canal Company employee. He died on June 2, 1914 at the Ancon Hospital. He was buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery on 4 October 1914, then reinterred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979.
