Doctor Jabez Clifford Casto was born in Terra Haute, Indiana in October 13, 1860. He became a physician at Miami College of Medicine and in later life he married Charlotte E. Planch. Later he moved to South America to care for the sick. He became ill at Barranguilla, Colombia and was taken to Gorgas Army Hospital in the Canal Zone where he died on July 25, 1936. He was cremated and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
