James Marcellas Carpprow was born in Ardmore, Arkansas on October 8, 1877. He moved to the Canal Zone and worked as a sanitary inspector for the Panama Canal Company. Upon retirement, he remained in Panama. He died on April 11, 1952 and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
