Rufus Leon Carey was born in Marshall, Texas on March 11, 1917. He enlisted in the US Army and was promoted to Corporal. After his enlistment ended, he enlisted in the US Navy and served as an Electrician's Mate during World War II. After his retirement from the Armed Forces, he worked as an electrical supervisor for US Government. He died on September 5, 1990 at Orlando, Florida and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
