Mildred Louise Byrd was born in the Canal Zone on April 6, 1916. Her parents were Jesse L. Byrd and Louis Byrd, both from Georgia. Jesse was the Health Officer at Cristobal, Canal Zone living on Colon Hospital grounds. Mildred died on February 11, 1918 at the Colon Hospital. She was buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery then reinterred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979.
