Captain Brown was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, she was a registered nurse serving with the 801st Medical Air Evacuation Squadron, U.S. Air Force in Korea. On September 26, 1950, she was aboard a C-54D Skymaster transport departing from Ashiya, Japan when the aircraft crashed into the Sea of Japan.
