Colonel Brennan was a member of the 366th Tactical Fighter Wing. On November 26, 1967, he was the bombardier/navigator of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4C) on a mission 12 miles from Ban Karai Pass, Quang Binh Province, North Vietnam, when his aircraft was shot down. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
