Lawrence Brain was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 1, 1885. He married Emma May Brain and they moved to the Canal Zone with his widowed mother, Ann Brain. He worked as a steamfitter in the Balboa shops for the Panama Canal Company. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Clearwater, Florida where he died on March 15, 1959. His ashes were shipped in June 1960 and interred at the Corozal American Cemetery with Emma Brain and Ann Brain.
