Lieutenant Commander Bouchard was a member of Attack Squadron 196, Carrier Air Wing 15 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS CONSTELLATION (CVA-64). On December 20, 1968, he was the pilot of a Grumman Attack Aircraft Intruder (A-6A) on a night mission over Muong Nong, Savannakhet Province, Laos when his aircraft was hit by ground fire. He was reported as missing. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
