Edgar J. Bonestell was born in Iowa in 1869. He moved to Panama to be the Superintendent of Darien Gold Mining Company. He died on May 28, 1905 from Yellow Fever at the Ancon Hospital. He was buried at Ancon, disinterred and cremated in 1914. His ashes were retained at the Gorgas Mortuary. On request from the Panama Canal Company, his ashes were buried at Corozal American Cemetery on 1981.
