Major Bond was a member of the 604th Special Operations Squadron. On March 11, 1968, he was the pilot of a Cessna Dragonfly Attack Aircraft (A-37A) on a mission over Phuoc Tuy, South Vietnam, when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
