He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force, serving as a Staff Sergeant with the 6th Bomber Group in Panama during World War II. He died while on active duty on January 21, 1942 from an aircraft accident at Penone, Panama and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
