Lieutenant Junior Grade Bick was the pilot of a Douglas F3D-2 Skyknight fighter with Detachment 44, Composite Squadron 4 aboard the carrier USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CVA-39) and based at Pyongtaek Airfield (K-6). On July 2, 1953, while on patrol 12 miles north of Cho-do Island, he encountered four enemy fighters. After shooting down one enemy fighter his plane was lost. He was listed as Missing in Action and presumed dead on August 5, 1954.
