Private Joseph George Bertsch, son of Mr. and Mrs George Bertsch, was born in Orrin, North Dakota on April 12, 1911. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served as a Private with the 28th Fighter Squadron at France Field, Panama during World War II. He died on December 13, 1942 from an accidental drowning in the Chagres River and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
