Major Carlson was the instructor pilot of a C-47 Skytrain transport with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, 4th Air Force. On December 30, 1951, he was enroute from Hamilton AFB to Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas, when the aircraft crashed on Lookout Mountain in central Arizona, killing all on board. |
