First Lieutenant Pollard was the pilot of a F-80C Shooting Star fighter-interceptor with the 35th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 8th Fighter Bomber Group. On July 9, 1950, he became lost in a heavy overcast about 60 miles northwest of Itazuke Air Base, Japan and crashed. He was presumed dead on July 10, 1951. His remains were not recovered. |
