First Lieutenant Jenkins was the pilot of a F-80C Shooting Star fighter interceptor with the 36th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, 8th Fighter-Bomber Group. On March 17, 1951, while on a combat mission in bad weather, contact was lost between Itazuke Air Base, Japan and K-9 Airfield, Korea. On March 3, 1952, it was determined that he was Killed in Action. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
